Who is AVIP?

AVIP is a personal initiative of its CEO: Frans Spanjaart. A professional with his heart in the interior design and furniture business. Frans Spanjaart has been working in the profession for more than 30 years, many of them as a furniture maker and project leader.

In 1985 he took the step to being an independent businessman, working as Managing Director with an international project organizer. His first company, Meubel Fabriek, was based just outside Amsterdam at the industrial town of Beverwijk.

In 1988 he merged Meubel Fabriek with two other partners to become BASIM Interior Maker. Frans left the partnership in 1992 to establish AVIP in Holland.

The name AVIP was well chosen. ‘Advies and Verkoop van Interior Produkten’ Dutch for Advice and Sales for Interior Products. Under his leadership AVIP Holland has realized many interior projects worldwide, including offices, banks, shops, hotels and restaurants.

In 1992, Frans was asked to join a team of designers (JB&C, New York) to work on a design project, which resulted in about 500 Citibank branches around the world, namely in North America, South America, Middle East, Europe and Asia. During his period another AVIP branch in Hacket’s Town, New Jersey, USA was set up.

In 1995, finally Frans landed in Indonesia and built the first Citibank branch in Sudirman, Jakarta. After falling in love with the country and the people he decided to stay and established an office in Jakarta with three staff, while still continuing work to finalize projects outside Indonesia. After 5 years he decided to settle and focus all his activities from Indonesia.
